Child Safe Tambour Gate
(Please
refer to “child safety” page for more detailed information on
home elevator gate safety)
Since the development of home elevators in the 1920’s, gate
systems have rarely been designed with family or child safety
in mind. Operation and design have been dictated by the
cost of manufacturing the product.
The Elevator Company’s child safe
tambour gate, however, is designed
with the well-being of even our “littlest” users in the
forefront. By making safety their primary focus, they have
come to develop the safest, highest quality gate constructed
for residential elevator use.
The
Elevator Company's child-safe gate offers peace of mind over
other types of residential elevator gates. Unlike
folding and collapsible varieties, the child safe gate system
is fully automated, and designed to reverse in the presence of
any obstruction. It latches independently, and the
elevator only operates once the gate is secured. The
distance between the face of the swing-door and the face of
the tambour gate can be as little as 3/4 inches to maximize
rider safety. (Please refer to the
Child Safety page for more
information.)
This system also
provides quality and convenience to the user. The Elevator
company's technology
features bearings and shafts, while other systems use pegs and
bushings. These features allow the elevator to always
respond when called. Other gate options (folding and
collapsible styles) occasionally require the user to walk up
or down stairs to another landing to ensure the gate is closed so the
elevator will operate. In addition, the “Tambour” style
of the gate retracts to give a full 36 inch clearance for
entrance and exit at each landing.
This gate style is available in
over 900 color options, with an oil-rubbed powder coat finish
provided as standard.
